Welcome to 49th Annual Conference and General Body Meeting Of Indian Immunology Society

Dear Friends

The 49th Annual Conference and General Body Meeting of the Indian Immunology Society is going to be held from 24-26 November, 2022 at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.  The meeting is important and deserves your attention on many fronts: 

1. One that this conference will be held in a physical mode after a gap of nearly three years and we all know how badly we missed meetings in this format due to COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions. Now that the things are improving due to wide-spread vaccination coverage in India and many other countries, the life needs to come back to near normal.
2. Secondly, the Institute PGIMER Chandigarh, is one of the few premier ‘centres of Excellence’ in Medical Education and Research in the country, which is considered a major hub for providing multi-specialty tertiary care medical services to patients from all over India as well as abroad. The institute boasts of its excellence not only in medical care but also in the quality of research in all fields of basic medical sciences and clinical medicine. 
3. Third and the most important one is that the venue of the conference is located in the clean environments of “City Beautiful, Chandigarh”. Chandigarh, as you would like to know is the capital town of two adjoining states of Punjab and Haryana, and is one of the most planned cities in India, conceived and created in early 1960’s by the French architect Le Corbusier. Picturesquely located at the foothills of Shivaliks, it is known as one of the best experiments in urban planning and modern architecture in the twentieth century in India. In spite of exponential increase in the population of the city (which stands close to 1.2 million), and the growth of more townships in the vicinity, the city has maintained its architectural integrity and cleanliness.  The city is known for its extensive green coverage, no-high-rise buildings, well laid-out road grid system and clean environment, vouch for a must visit location while in India.

As Chair of organizing team, it is my profound privilege to welcome you all to this meeting. As one of the largest meetings in the field of Immunology in India, the annual conferences of Indian Immunology society bring together national and international renowned immunologists and provides an excellent opportunity for the Immunologists working in India and other parts of the world to showcase their research findings and to build on new collaborations. Our team has worked hard to put together a very exciting scientific program by inviting many expert immunologists not only from India but also from other parts of the world. The highlights of this meeting are that we have planned to hold some “pre-conference additives” for the students and young scientists in form of: 1) Pre-conference workshop on Flowcytometry and 2) Pre-conference IUIS Education Course. I am sure you all will register in large numbers and enjoy the scientific deliberations while interacting with some stalwarts in Immunology and your fellow immunologists in person during this conference at Chandigarh.
